1 box (12 oz.) of Mrs. Cubbison's Traditional Seasoned Stuffing
1 cup; melted butter
1 cup; firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons; ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon; ground nutmeg
6 tart apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/2 cup; sugar
heavy cream, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Liberally grease a 9" or 10" square baking pan with butter and set aside.
Combine the stuffing mix, butter, brown sugar, and spices in a large bowl. Arrange half of the mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Top with all of the apple slices, sprinkle with the sugar, and cover with the remaining stuffing mixture.
Cover and bake for 15 minutes. Uncover the dish and bake for 20 additional minutes, or until the apples are easily pierced with a fork. Serve warm with heavy cream, whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream.
